Each wheel manufactured from a high resilient nylon material that resists degradation from to heat and friction. Each nylon wheel spins around a hardened stainless steel shaft on its own set of bearings along a stainless steel track.

Bi-Fold Doors offer maximum security...

A multi-point locking system is at the centre of the security of all Hazlemere’s aluminium bi-folding and sliding doors. When the high security locking system is engaged, it does so at several different points, in several different directions, and into robust “keeps” to ensure that the door sash is firmly fixed into the door frame.

The double glazed toughened safety glass sealed units used to glaze the doors are inherently strong and difficult to break. Tested cylinder locks are housed by high security master handles to deter would-be intruders. The minimalist D handle securing the folding sections of each door throw shoot-bolts into position with one easy action, and there is an indicator slot so you will know for certain they are in place. This D handle is key lockable as standard for added security and added peace of mind.

Complete the design in style

Work will begin on the design and manufacturing of your aluminium bi-folding doors once you have advised us of what coloured finish you would like, and also your preferred form of glazing and hardware.

Bi-fold doors can be made with as few as two panes.

Bi-fold doors by definition “bi-fold” and can be made with as few as 2 panels. There is only one configuration for a 2 section aluminium bi-fold door but, as with all bi-fold doors, this configuration can be manufactured to either open-out or open-in. This minimalist style of bi-fold door could be used internally to connect a room with an orangery or conservatory, or it could be used on one of the smaller facets of a double glazed orangery or conservatory. Our bi-folds doors are available in a range of 2 panel up to 7 panel configurations.

Our bespoke aluminium bi-fold doors can come in any RAL colour of your choice...

The colour options for Hazlemere’s bespoke aluminium bi-fold doors are as varied as the configuration options and your first decision will need to be whether to have a gloss, matt or satin powder coated finish. Next there are around 600 standard RAL colour finishes to choose from, with RAL 9910Gi white gloss being the least cost finish.

View our most popular colours available throughout or as dual colour.

The finer details to bi-fold doors make the difference...

Most configurations of aluminium bi-fold door will involve the use of two different types of handles. Travel doors and integrated French doors will require a master lever/lever handle which houses a cylinder lock, and is used to engage the multi-point locking system when bi-fold doors are in the closed position.

Each aluminium bi-folding section will also has either a “D-handle” or shoot bolt handle, each of which is used to release the bi-folding sections from the door frame when opening and, of course, re-engage them when closing. A D-handle is used to push or pull the folding sections as appropriate and can be coloured matched to the internal aluminium frame at no extra cost. All our D handles come as standard with an additional lock and key to that on the travel door, adding peace of mind and higher security.

Learn more about our Bi-folding Doors

Interested in learning more about our bi-folding doors? We’ve answered some of most common questions about our range of feature doors below. If you have any other questions we recommend downloading our brochure or visiting one of our showrooms to discuss your project.

What are bi-folding doors?

Bi-folding doors are one of the most radically designed door offerings.

Your first encounter with a bi-folding door will be an occasion that remains in your mind forever, left spellbound by how little needs to be done to manoeuvre an opening with the slim grouping of panels. A light exertion of force results in the panels freely folding in on themselves, and this eccentric feature lets you shift the design completely to one side until it assembles like an accordion. Panels of such a vast size naturally offer an incredibly extended view and draw in floods of light.

From the point of versatility, a bi-folding door is peerless, and has quickly established itself as the principal feature door solution for opening homes to gardens, decking areas, and patios.

What should my bi-folding doors be made from?

Aluminium’s flexibility made it a clear-cut material choice for bi-folds.

It’s to aluminium’s credit that a bi-folding door functions in such unprecedented fashion, because it wouldn’t if any other material had been chosen to construct its remarkably innovative design.

Aluminium is so easy to shape and it’s this malleability that resulted in the framed sections of the bi-fold being so unbelievably narrow for the most enhanced sightlines. Lord, is it tough too and it has to be in order to handle the glass load.

Some building materials are notoriously bad for swelling and shrinking as temperatures fluctuate hot and cold, but aluminium isn’t one of them, so it won’t become subject to bending or twisting.

The weatherproofing qualities of aluminium abolish any need for the material to receive any future treatment and keep maintenance low.

How energy-efficient are bi-folding doors?

Energy efficiency standards are comfortably exceeded by bi-folding doors.

In this era of expensive energy, it was imperative for us that our aluminium bi-folding doors greatly surpass expected thermal requirements. The thermal break within them has the role of lessening the transference of temperatures between the inside and outside of the frames, which is instrumental for their deliverance of such impressive energy efficiency.

Energy efficient glazing occupies all the individual door sections and you can specify that they come double or triple glazed.

Hosts of other thermal efficiency technologies have been utilised to develop the bi-folding design and ensure that it easily eclipses the minimum expected U-value. With a U-value so low, you know that you’re dealing with a world-class insulator.

What security features do bi-folding doors have to keep my home safe?

You can bank on a bi-folding door to defend your home.

The introduction of a bi-folding door into your home, a possible access point for burglars, won’t make it vulnerable to theft, not at all. It can’t when it has solid aluminium frames, advanced locking systems, and secure glazing.

Once you engage the multi-point lock, which it does at various points and in various directions into a heavy-duty lock keep, it fixes the bi-folding door sash rigidly to the door frame, stopping it from being opened.

To the displeasure of thieves, the double or triple glazed units, containing toughened glass, are internally beaded, preventing their removal from outside of the house. They will have a close to impossible job of breaking or displacing the glass as it is about five times tougher than normal glass. On the inside of the high-security master handles are the most dependable cylinder locks.

How can I customise my new doors?

Personalise our bi-folding doors with tailored touches.

Don’t let us stop you if you have a longing to customise a bi-folding door in your own individual way so that it looks, works, and performs how you want it to.

Space will be what dictates the configuration of the door and the number of overall panels it possesses.

The biggest of our bi-folds is our 7-leaf version, which generates a colossal opening, with the smallest being a 2-panel door. So, there’s plenty of options to match your home’s arrangement and personal style.

We’ll ask you to decide if you want an outward or inward opening. Most customers favour an outward opening so that the door doesn’t occupy any indoor space when ajar. The door can also open from left to right, or the reverse of that, and you can nominate a colour, the hardware used, and any accessories in our bi-fold collection.

Sublimated woodgrains add a wood effect to the aluminium frames so they give the appearance of timber, or you can have a powder-coated finish in just about any RAL colour.
