Transform Your Home With Our Festive Decorating Guide
Santa isn’t going to be too impressed on Christmas morning if he turns up at your house and sees that you haven’t given it some festive decoration – you don’t want to end up on his naughty list!
You now have less than two weeks to get into his good books and your first task should definitely be to get the Christmas tree out of the attic and set it up in your main living area.
Make your decorating day a full family affair and get the kids involved too. To make the whole house look truly fabulous this festive season, pinch these other decorating ideas that we’ve come up with; after all, it is a time for sharing…
Dress your front door
You can’t leave your front door bare at this time of the year! At the very least, you should hang up a Christmas wreath.
The majority of real and fake festive wreaths you can find on the market are created using foliage and feature familiar festive touches such as baubles, bells, fairy lights, pine cones, red-coloured ribbon etc.
Been there and done that? One of the latest Christmassy trends involving front doors is to add a big red bow to it, much like you would wrap a present with a bow of red ribbon.
Set the perfect Christmas dinner table
Christmas is that close now we can almost taste the turkey. If it’s your turn to cook the bird and play host, turn your dinner table into a Christmassy masterpiece for the occasion.
You might want to invest in some new crockery and cutlery for starters. Place-holders will make your guests feel right at home and you can actually buy mini wreath and bauble place-holders – we have found a good example on Not on the High Street.
To give it an extra bit of sparkle, you could scatter a few snowflakes over your chosen tablecloth. Just watch people’s reactions when they see the table for the first time.
One of our conservatories would be an idyllic spot to enjoy the Christmas dinner if you’re hosting proceedings next year and don’t yet own an extension.
Display Christmas cards in a creative fashion
The only hint of Christmas that you might currently have in your home is your Christmas cards.
Most of us just display them on the window cill or on top of the fireplace, but you can be far more imaginative than that.
Create some sort of Christmas-related shape on one of the walls with your Christmas cards e.g. Christmas tree. You can apply them to the wall with a sticky tape that won’t damage your wallpaper or rip paint off.
We bet anyone that comes to visit will be rushing to replicate the idea in their own home when they see what you’ve done.
