Hazlemere Provides Assistance To DIY SOS
We are delighted to reveal that several products from the industry leading Hazlemere range will feature on a forthcoming episode of the hit BBC One show, DIY SOS.
Due to be screened in a few months’ time, the project took place in Welwyn Garden City which meant we didn’t have far to travel, having a showroom in the town.
Set against a very tight schedule, we managed to expertly install a three section powder coated coloured aluminium bi-folding and sliding door, and removed all the existing windows, exchanging them for brand new white UPVC A+ Energy rated casement windows with 18mm integral Georgian bars.
Energy efficiency is assured as the combined U-Value of the UPVC windows is an impressive 1.3W/m2K and they also feature heavy duty fire escape easy clean hinges and a lockable night vent facility.
The unique functionality of the Trojan hinges means the upstairs windows can be slid towards the centre of the window for safe cleaning. They can then easily be clicked back into position once cleaning has finished.
A huge amount of credit needs to go to our wonderful suppliers Conservatory Outlet and Nicholls and Clarke who both provided funding for the frames and double glazed sealed units to help us complete the project.
So that we don’t spoil the programme for you, we’ll keep the full story and the family’s identity under wraps, but please return to our blog to find out more ahead of the big reveal.
Two members of our team, Alan Layton – Installation Manager (central in image, beige boots and lightest colour tee shirt), and Jason Bradshaw, Operations Director (to his right, leaning with sunglasses handing from belt), found time to pose for a photograph with presenter Nick Knowles and the DIY SOS crew.
Our Sales & Marketing Director, Mark Austin said: “Hazlemere Windows were delighted to be able to accept DIY SOS’s request for assistance to benefit a family with special needs in Welwyn Garden City. However, although our window and door installers spent a week fitting new bespoke UPVC double glazed windows and a coloured aluminium bi-folding door, we must give full credit to frame manufacturers Conservatory Outlet from Wakefield in Yorkshire and the double glazing sealed unit manufacturers Nicholls and Clarke of Fareham in Hampshire, who both contributed towards the costs of the new windows and doors that Hazlemere fitted free of charge as their contribution towards this noble cause. Our sincere thanks goes to them and Hazlemere’s team of 4 fitters, who grafted hard during the project replacing all the windows with thermally broken A+ energy saving casement UPVC windows.”
