UK Government Finally Sheds Light On Part L

After months of uncertainty, the British Government has finally confirmed that plans to implement changes to Part L of the Building Regulations on replacement windows and doors into domestic dwellings have been dropped for the time being.

Originally due to come into effect as early as April 2013, a number of delays occurred which lead to the proposed date passing without any form of clarification until the government finally decided to put an end to the speculation last month.

The next proposed dates for any review/changes is currently 2016, however the Government has reserved the right to look at this earlier if they wish.
The upshot of all of this is that there will be NO changes to the current performance targets for replacement windows and doors which means Hazlemere’s entire current product offering still meets the current Building Regulations. As a result, we will continue to sell the ranges we have until further notice.

The National House-Building Council (NHBC) stated:

â€ŔIn practical terms the provisions for the renovation of thermal elements remain essentially the same as under the former guidance in Approved Document L1B and L2B, the main difference being the provisions are now backed up by statutory regulation.”
