Don’t Rule Out Secondary Glazing For A Second
Single glazing and double glazing, two window types that we are all familiar with. A third is slowly starting to gain in popularity throughout the UK; triple glazing. But if we say the words ‘secondary glazing’ many people will be left scratching their heads and be completely unaware of how it works or even of its very existence.
In these times of austerity, when family finances are being squeezed tighter than ever before, in part due to the rising cost of fuel bills, it is surprising that secondary glazing receives so little promotion. This certainly isn’t the case at Hazlemere where it sits proudly amongst our many other window options.
Winter is fast approaching. Who knows what the weather has in store for us but it’s extremely wise to prepare for every eventuality, especially if you continue to live in a property that only has single glazed windows fitted; largely responsible for around 25% of heat lost from the home.
You won’t want to go cold indoors, nor will you want to have to pay a fortune for energy. Improving insulation is the way to prevent this from happening and it can be done quickly and inexpensively when you choose to go down the secondary glazing route.
Secondary glazing simply put involves the introduction of a separate single pane within an existing frame so that the traditional character of your windows can be retained, whilst the insulation they provide is significantly enhanced. With less heat capable of forcing its way out through a secondary glazed window, it ultimately means that you won’t have to pay as much as you were previously to keep your abode warm.
And a cut in the cost of your energy bills and increased comfort won’t be the only things you notice.
If you’re tired of being disturbed by passing traffic or noisy passers-by, then you will be extremely pleased to know that the added window layer supplied by secondary glazing will act as a sound reducer and lower noise pollution levels. Your home will also be far more secure so you can leave your house empty without overly worrying as to its well-being.
Whatever window style you currently have installed, leave it to Hazlemere to adapt its secondary glazing to suit, as each secondary glazed window can be made to line up with your existing glazing bars.
It’s much underrated but guaranteed to give you your money’s worth.
