Go energy efficient with modern materials...
Traditional roofing materials commonly used in years gone by were not as energy efficient as the modern materials that are more widely used today. This leaves many homeowners with a living space that they unfortunately cannot use in certain temperatures.
To ensure you are not suffering from outdated materials from the past, we are able to quickly and efficiently replace your old conservatory roof and frames with a new environmentally friendly replacement roof.
A Hazlemere solid tiled roof has many advantages...
A double-glazed conservatory is completely worthless if it cannot be utilised for large parts of the year either because it gets too hot or too cold. You rightly expect it to provide you with a suitable ambience 24/7 so that you can enjoy it in comfort. Our tiled roof will give you a living space you can use throughout the year.

Add roof windows to maximise natural light
If you are concerned about any loss of natural light when opting for a solid tiled roof, we can customise the installation to add multiple roof windows. Not only will the roof windows improve ventilation and be a welcome source of fresh air in the warmer months, but they will be an attractive addition to the overall look. Most notably, the roof windows will allow you to enjoy views of the outdoors, adding to the peacefulness of your living space.
Our roof tiles enhance the durability of your living space
We offer a range of colours to complement and enhance your tiled roof. Our lightweight tiles can be matched to suit your property. Even though they take a regular battering from the weather you can rely on them to stand firm and maintain their look with zero negative effect on performance.
Our roof tiles share a similar durability to the real thing...
Our lightweight tiles come finished in five different colour variations so that you can locate a solid roof that complements the roof tiles that sit on top of your home. They may be called ‘lightweight’ but you will be pleasantly surprised by just how durable they are, just as you’d expect of a stone-coated steel.

Learn more about our Replacement Tiled Roofs
Our replacement tiled roofs are a great way to upgrade and modernise a conservatory creating a warm and relaxing space. To help you decide if a tiled roof is right for you we’ve answered some of our most commonly asked questions below. If you have any other questions our helpful team of experts is on hand to help, visit our showroom or call our team today.
How will a tiled roof benefit my extension?
A tiled roof will restore your faith in your old extension.
Whereas previously you instantly felt the cold in your conservatory once external temperatures dropped, that will be a thing of the past upon the installation of a substitute roof and constant cosiness will be the way forward. Head in there for breakfast in the morning or supper late at night and you will experience the same snugness, all without needing to rely on your boiler to nullify the draughts that used to infiltrate its confines.
It will be noticeably quieter inside too as the roof tiles will absorb much of the din caused by noisy neighbours, busy traffic etc., treating you to the utmost tranquillity.
Solid roofs are capable of being retrofitted to the majority of conservatory designs in places like Beaconsfield, Chesham and Gerrards Cross within just a matter of days and in the process, renew their look. The realistic tiles and slates are resilient enough to withstand any cracking and delamination, so won’t need repairing or replacing at any time in the future either.
How long does it take to replace a conservatory roof with a tiled one?
A new conservatory roof can be fitted and operational in hardly any time.
We would hate to disrupt your home life too much and aim to be in and out of your home quickly, which we will be as solid tiled roof installations are fuss-free and fast to complete. To quicken the undertaking, Hazlemere prefabricates a lot of the roof beforehand in our manufacturing facility and then carefully transports it to the relevant property in readiness for being fitted.
Exactly how long we need to finalise the fitting of the replacement roof will be dependent on the size of the conservatory that’s undergoing the roof upgrade, and if any electrics and plastering need attending to. As an indication of the length of time it generally takes, a week is the usual maximum.
A day is a sufficient amount of time to ensure the new roof is watertight.
The predicted timescale will become clear after we have learned about your conservatory and your overall expectations at a design appointment.
Can I add a tiled roof to any extension?
Tiled roofs are adjustable to ensure their compatibility with most types of extension.
There’s life in your old extension yet! We say that with great confidence as Hazlemere’s solid tiled roof is capable of being integrated into extensions of different sizes, shapes, and styles.
It helps when you have a catalogue of master craftspeople in your workforce with years of experience in tailoring the system to suit conservatory designs ranging from Edwardian and Victorian conservatories to Gable and Lean-To structures. Each time they do this, the roofs they fashion unfailingly rejuvenate an extension’s aesthetics and thermal standards.
Replacement roof installations aren’t usually subject to planning permission (check this out with your local planning authority prior to proceeding with one) and it’s important they also comply with building regulations.
Do I need planning permission to add a tiled roof?
Planning permission is a hot topic in the case of solid tiled roofs.
Switching from a glass conservatory roof to a solid tiled roof prompts what is called a “change of use” as it results in a temporary conservatory extension graduating into a permanent conservatory extension. You may need to draft and submit a planning application in this instance.
Any “change of use” could lead to your local Building Control Officer instructing you to modify your conservatory ahead of the new roof installation so that it has roof and trickle vents built into it.
There must be full compliance with building regulations not just with the roof, but also with the supporting structural elements of the conservatory, otherwise building control may enforce you to alter the roof to bring it in line with the rules or impose a strict penalty.
Planning permission often gets confused with Building Regulatory Approval by some householders, which comes into play when replacing a translucent roof with a solid roof.
One last and important thing to remember is to find out if any Permitted Development Rights that the house previously enjoyed at the time of the conservatory originally being installed have since been withdrawn. If they have, planning permission must be sought.
Can I add skylights to my new roof?
Style skylights into the roof so that you don’t lose out on natural light.
We don’t hide anything from our customers and will admit that a marginal loss of natural light can occur if reverting from a glass roof to a solid tiled roof. It ought not to be a dealbreaker though as so little of the sun’s rays will disappear from the inside of your conservatory that you’d be hard pushed to even notice any difference.
If it’s the slightest bit of a concern to you, we have a solution and it’s our skylights which can be assimilated into the tiled covering to power sunlight down into the heart of the design.
Amplify the light captured by the skylights with mirrors hung up in optimum areas to bounce it around the room, and plump for a lighter decor. For when the nights draw in, have spotlights within the roof ready to be turned on.
Where the skylights are positioned in the solid roof will hinge on the volume of sunlight you want the extension’s interior to capture and at what point in the day you’d prefer it to receive most light transmission.
Will a solid roof add value to my home?
A more stylish and more reliable roof can’t fail to add value.
A guaranteed turn-off for a house buyer viewing homes in Northolt, Hillingdon etc., would be a conservatory space that felt badly insulated inside, either unbearably cold or suffocatingly hot, as experienced in many traditionally built extensions. What good is a conservatory that can only be utilised for a fraction of the year?
Insulation is what every conservatory needs, and a solid roof offers constant thermal comfort in conservatories whether it’s winter or summer. Better usability opens so many possibilities. Can’t stand the heat in your conservatory or fed up with having to layer up thick to enjoy it? Turn to a solid roof to weatherproof the design for good and make it a real home asset again.
An estate agent can give you an estimation of how much extra value a solid roof installation would bring to your property – it’s always an investment worth making if your old conservatory roof has ceased performing like it did.
Will a tiled roof improve the energy efficiency of my conservatory?
The premise of a solid tiled roof is to raise thermal standards in conservatories.
Those who invented the tiled roof did so to offer a solution to the long-running issue of older-style conservatories and extensions suffering from extreme temperature fluctuations.
Ever since its initial rollout, it’s been widely embraced by extension owners everywhere, who identify its incredible insulating properties.
Anyone who has invested in one will tell you how it has massively enhanced energy efficiency and returned their extension to a comfortable fully functioning space that’s usable every season of the year.
Glazed inserts in a tiled roof will not compromise the overall thermal performance of the system as energy efficient glass will occupy these openings and assist it in keeping you comfortable.
Heat loss? You can say goodbye to that and wave a big welcome to warmth.
